In 2025, SDRT won a prestigious NASA Tech Leap prize to develop a high-fidelity prototype of the Electron Beam Dust Mitigation (EBDM) technology for lunar dust removal from surfaces of exploration systems.
The prototype will be tested with parabolic flights that simulate lunar gravity. A variety of samples will be tested, including spacesuit, glass, Kapton, thermal radiator materials, and solar cells. The test results will provide important guidance and prediction on EBDM’s performance on the lunar surface.
